The Abingdon Democrat, of Sept. 23d, says:

The dysentery has been distressingly fatal in the neighborhood of Hansonville, Russell county, within the last few weeks, and particularly among children. Twenty-two children had died up to Tuesday evening last, within a circle of two miles of Hansonville - the eldest not more than nine years of age. In addition to these there has been considerable mortality among older persons. The neighboring town of Marion and other portions of Smyth county, has likewise suffered dreadfully.
