John Henry Smith, of Elk Garden, was in town Tuesday.

Will Ayers, of Norton, spent Sunday with his parents east of town.

Miss Elizabeth Todd has returned from visiting friends in Roanoke.

Giles Dickens and family spent Sunday with T. L. Hargis and family in Green Valley.

Miss Mamie Easterly is on an extended visit to relatives in Chattanooga and Cleveland, Tenn.

Fred R. Steele, of Tazewell, was transacting business here the latter part of last week.

Miss Nora Burns entertained a few of her friends Saturday evening at an informal book party.

George Kelly left Wednesday for Chicago University, where he will study during the summer.

At an early date the convict camps will be moved from west end of the county to Mile Creek.

Neal Gibson has returned to Bristol after having spent a week here with C. C. Alderson and family.

Howard Gray and brother, Routh, have returned from Emory and Henry, where they spent the past session.

Mrs. Pat Crockett has returned to her home at Witten's Mill, after spending two weeks with her parents here.

John C. Gilmer with his wife and family left Tuesday for their home in Bristl, after a visit to the former's parents here.

Wiley Compton, of Wolf Creek, was calling on friends here Sunday.

Mr. and Mrs. Millard Kinser visited Mr. and Mrs. T. L. Shufflebarger Sunday.

Mr. and Mrs. Rayburn Stowers have been visiting in Blend and Smyth counties the past week.

Messrs. Shropshire, of Philadelphia, and Clockston, of Pittsburg, were here last week looking at the timber in the Cove.

Richard Gilliam, of this place, was initiated into the mysteries of Odd Fellowship at Shawver Mill last Saturday night.

Mr. and Mrs. S. W. Gregory returned home Sunday from attending the unveiling of the monument at Bland and visiting relatives on Wolf Creek.
